Docter Sheru Rice & General Mills

Docter Sheru Rice & General Mills is located right on Kohara Road. It’s a bit of a different name, we know, but it’s what we’ve always been called. We are a standard mill that handles rice and other general grains that farmers bring in. The place isn't anything special to look at, just a sturdy building with big metal doors and the machinery inside. We spend most of our time out in the shed, working with the grain and making sure the bags are filled correctly. The road outside can be quite dusty, and when the wind blows, you can see the rice husk floating in the air. We are just local people working here, no fancy corporate titles or anything like that. We use simple tools and a lot of manual labor to get the job done. Often, we are just sitting on the wooden benches outside during our breaks, watching the traffic go by on Kohara Road. We don't have a website or a marketing person. Most of our business comes from word of mouth and people who have been dealing with us for a generation. It’s a noisy, busy place but we enjoy the rhythm of the work. Every day is pretty much the same, but that’s fine by us as long as the machines keep humming and the grain keeps coming in. It's a steady life.
