Deepak Maheshwari Farmer

It’s a bit of a funny name for a place in Miller Ganj, but Deepak Maheshwari Farmer is what we go by. We are at Plot No. 592 on Overlock Rd. Even though we are in a busy industrial spot, my roots are in farming, and that’s what I know best in life. The shop is full of things that help people out in the fields or with their equipment. It’s a large plot, so we have room to keep some bigger items that wouldn't fit in the smaller shops. The dust from Overlock Rd comes in through the open front, so we are always sweeping to keep things decent. I spend most of my day sitting on a stool near the entrance. I like to see who is coming and going. We don’t have a computer system for our stock. I keep it all in a big notebook with a blue cover that I carry around. My handwriting isn’t the best, but I know exactly what’s written there. People come from the surrounding villages sometimes because they know me from back home. We talk about the crops and the rain before we talk about business. It’s a slower way of doing things, even in a fast place like Miller Ganj. The shop isn't much to look at from the outside, just a big gate and a sign with the plot number. But inside, we have what’s needed. We just do our work.
