Raj Taigour School

This school is another one in Indira Nagar, located at 16/1436. It is a bit further into the colony. The street is a little narrower here, so when the school bus comes, everything else has to stop. The building has a small front yard with some potted plants that we try to keep alive. Inside, the rooms are painted a pale blue, though it is fading in some spots. We have a lot of wooden benches for the students. The office is right by the entrance and it is usually full of old files and some trophies from years ago. We do not have a big playground, so the kids mostly play in the small open space we have. During the summer, the Lucknow heat is really something and we have to keep all the windows wide open. You can hear the sounds of the neighborhood—vendors selling vegetables, birds, and the occasional car horn. The teachers mostly live nearby, so they walk or take a cycle to get here. We start early in the morning when it is still a bit cool. By the afternoon, everyone is tired and ready to head home. We do not have any high-tech gadgets, just some charts on the walls and the usual school supplies. It is a simple place where we have been doing the same routine for a long time. We just focus on the daily lessons and making sure the building stays in one piece.
