The Millennium School

The Millennium School is situated on Rai Bareli Road in Lucknow. It’s a fairly straightforward place to get to, though the traffic on that road can be a bit much during the peak hours. The school building sits back a little from the main street. We have a lot of rooms for the different grades. Most of the day is spent walking up and down the corridors to check on the classes. We have a simple playground area that gets dusty when the wind blows. The teachers arrive early and sit in the common area to talk before the students show up. We have a lot of windows to let the light in, which helps keep the place bright. The walls are mostly plain, with maybe a few notices pinned up here and there about upcoming holidays. It’s a very practical environment. We don’t have much in the way of fancy decorations. We use the space we have to get the teaching done. During the summer, the fans are always on full speed to keep the heat away. You can hear the buses pulling in every morning which is how we know it’s time to start. It’s just a group of people working together to keep a school running on the edge of the city. We deal with the usual things like leaky taps or broken chairs as they come up. It is just life at a school in Lucknow.
