At Plot No. 106 in IDA Phase II, Cherlapally, you’ll find the Sai Deepa Rock Drills workshop. Cherlapally is a busy industrial zone, and we fit right in with the noise and the heavy trucks moving through the gates all day. We make rock drills, which is heavy and serious work. There is a lot of grinding and machining happening from morning until evening. The air usually smells like hot metal and coolant. We aren't a high-tech lab with white coats. We are a bunch of people in work shirts making tools that are meant to dig into the hard earth. The office is just a small room partitioned off from the main floor so we can hear each other talk over the machines. We’ve been at this plot for a long time. Over the years, we’ve added a few new machines and hired more hands, but the core of the place hasn't changed. We don't use fancy words to describe our business. We just make drills that don't break when they hit rock. Sometimes the heat in Hyderabad makes the workshop feel like an oven, but we keep the big fans moving and the drinking water cold. It's a tough environment but we’re used to it by now. Most of our guys have been here for a decade or more. We are just a local business doing our part in the industrial estate. Nothing more, nothing less.
