Swadesi Bio Energy Farmer Producer Company Limited is set up at Brij Kishor Kharwar’s house in Hatwa. This is in the Karmaini Prem Walia area of Kushinagar, with the pin code 274402. It is a very rural part of the state, and the house is simply number 1 on the road. We spend most of our time dealing with bio energy projects and talking to the local farmers about their produce. Being a farmer producer company means we are mostly just neighbors who decided to work together to make things run a bit smoother. The office is not anything special to look at. It is just a room with some old fans and a lot of folders piled up on the tables. The road leading to the house is quite narrow, so you have to pull over if a tractor or a bullock cart is coming from the other direction. We don't have a marketing team or people in suits. We usually wear our regular clothes and spend our time out in the fields or sitting in the shade discussing the season’s harvest. It is a slow process to get everything organized, and there are always problems with the weather or the paperwork. We just take things one day at a time and try to do right by the people living in Hatwa and the surrounding villages. It is a simple life here.
