We are out in Sandi Khurd, which is near Kushinagar. Ambika Singh is the one who manages the operations at Sidhua Banger. It’s a real rural spot and most of us here have been farming these lands for many generations. This company is just our way of getting a little more organized as a group. We aren't trying to act like some big corporation from the city. We just want to make sure the farmers in our small village don't get a bad deal when it comes time to sell. We meet up often and talk about which crops are looking healthy and where we might be able to find a buyer. It’s a lot of long conversations over cups of tea. The office isn't much to look at, just a simple room with some basic furniture and books. To be honest, we spend way more time out in the fields than we do inside that room. Kushinagar is a place that many people come to visit, but for us, it is just our home and our workplace. We have to deal with the thick mud when the monsoon comes and the heat in the middle of summer. It’s not an easy life but it is what we know and what we are good at. We just keep our heads down and work together to get through each season as it comes.
