We are located right on Mahavir Nagar Main Road in Kota, not too far from Subhash Circle. Gururupa Beauty And Matching Center is just a small, local shop that we have been running for years. It’s mostly a place for ladies to find the right colored threads and blouse pieces for their sarees. We keep hundreds of different shades because a slight mismatch can ruin a whole outfit. The shop isn't fancy at all. We have wooden shelves stacked with bangles and small cosmetic items like bindis and safety pins. Kota gets really hot in the summer months, so we spend a lot of time under the ceiling fan waiting for the evening rush. Usually, it gets busy after five when people are done with their work. We try to stock everything from simple cotton laces to shiny buttons. It's a lot of work keeping all these tiny items organized. Sometimes the shop feels a bit cramped when three or four people are inside at once. We don't have any big corporate goals. We just want to make sure the women in Mahaveer Nagar can find their matching pieces without having to travel too far into the city. My sister and I handle most of the customers. We’ve seen many kids grow up in this neighborhood. It’s a simple life, just counting out change and helping people pick the right shade of green or blue.
