Snsm Higher Secondary School

The school is located in Elampallor, right in the Kundara area of Kollam. Snsm Higher Secondary School has been part of this community for many years. You can see the kids walking in every morning from the surrounding villages. It gets pretty noisy when classes let out, but that is expected with a building full of teenagers. We handle the higher secondary levels, so things get a bit serious around exam time. The classrooms are basic. We have desks that have seen many years of use and blackboards that are always covered in chalk dust. It is a local place, so most of the teachers grew up nearby or have lived in Kollam for a long time. We do not have the fancy facilities you might find in the big cities, but we have enough room for everyone to sit and learn. The playground is where most of the energy goes after lunch. Maintenance is a constant job here because old buildings always need something fixed, whether it is a leaky roof or a broken window latch. We just keep things moving one day at a time. Parents often drop by to check on their children's progress or just to talk about local news. It feels more like a big family than a formal institution sometimes. We focus on the curriculum and making sure the students are ready for whatever comes after they finish their 12th year here.
