M G D Higher Secondary School sits right along the Punalur Pathanapuram Road in Puthussery. It is one of those places that has been part of the landscape for quite a while now. If you walk past during the morning hours, you will hear the sound of students reciting lessons or just chatting before the bell rings. The building itself isn't anything fancy, just a sturdy place where we spend our days. We have students coming in from all around this part of Puthussery. Some walk, others come by bus along the main road. The trees around the yard provide a bit of shade when the sun gets too hot in the afternoon. Inside, the classrooms have high ceilings and the walls are covered with charts that the kids made themselves. It feels like a real community hub here. We don't have a massive campus with gates and security guards everywhere, just a simple gate that stays open most of the day. The teachers here mostly live nearby too, so everyone knows everyone. It is a bit noisy sometimes because of the traffic on the road right outside, but we have gotten used to that over the years. We focus on getting through the syllabus and making sure the older kids are ready for their exams. There is always a lot of chalk dust and the smell of old paper in the staff room. It is just a normal school doing its thing for the local kids.
