United Metal

United Metal is located over at 5, Grant Street. This is right in the middle of everything in Esplanade and Dharmatala. Taltala is just a stone's throw away too. It’s a very old part of the city, and you can feel that history in the walls of the building. The streets around here are narrow and always full of people, vendors, and yellow taxis. We handle a lot of metal here, so the place is usually quite loud with the sound of things being moved or cut. It’s not a clean environment, but metal work never is. There is a specific smell of iron and dust that stays with you even after you go home. We have been here for a long time, watching the city change around us. Some of the old buildings nearby have been torn down, but we are still standing. The ceiling is high and the windows are small, which keeps it a bit cooler during the heavy Kolkata heat. We don't have a big marketing team or anything. Most of our work comes from people who have known us for decades. They know where Grant Street is and they know to look for number five. We just keep our heads down and do the work. It’s a gritty, honest way to make a living in a part of town that never really sleeps.
