We are based at 9/1 Lower Rawdon Street in Kolkata. This is a quiet enough corner of the city, at least compared to the main roads. Most of our time goes into managing properties and looking after the credit side of things. It’s not the most exciting work, but someone has to do it. The office is usually full of files and people coming in to talk about their flats or some paperwork. We’ve been in this 700020 area for quite a while. You get to know the neighbors and the local shops when you’re here every day. We don't have a big marketing team or anything like that. It’s just a handful of us sitting in a room making sure the property details are correct. Sometimes the monsoon rain makes the street a bit difficult, but we still show up and get the work done. People know us as the Belani folks on Lower Rawdon Street. We don't use big words or try to impress anyone with fancy brochures. If there’s a problem with a property or a payment, we just talk it through and try to fix it. It’s a very grounded way of doing things. Our desks are usually a bit cluttered with maps and legal papers. That’s just the reality of the property business in a city like Kolkata. We keep the lights on and the doors open for anyone who needs to settle their business. It is a steady way to spend the day.
