We work in property advisory, which basically means we spend our days looking at papers and talking to people about where they want to live or invest. It’s not always glamorous. There’s a lot of legwork involved in checking out sites and making sure the titles are clear. Our office in the colony is pretty modest. We have a few desks, some filing cabinets that are getting too full, and a coffee machine that gets a lot of use. We aren't the type of firm that uses big flashy billboards. We mostly work with people who live around here or found us through word of mouth. Being in West Bengal, you have to be patient with the way things move, and we’ve learned that over the years. We just try to give honest advice. If a place has a leaky roof or bad wiring, we’re going to say so. There’s no point in hiding the truth just to close a deal. It’s a small team here, so when one person is out, we all have to chip in. The atmosphere is relaxed, though it can get a bit loud when everyone is on the phone at once. We’re just local folks who know the real estate market in this corner of the city.
