Jaypee Electronics

Jaypee Electronics is on the 4th floor of number 50 Biplabi Rash Behari Basu Road, though most people still call it Canning Street. We are very close to Bagree Market. If you know that area of Kolkata, you know how crowded and loud it is at all hours of the day. There are people hauling goods and shouting everywhere. Our shop is up a few flights of stairs. The lift works most of the time, but sometimes you have to walk up. We sell all kinds of small electronic parts like transistors and resistors. The shop is packed with thousands of tiny plastic drawers. Each one has a little label on it, and some of the handwriting is so old it is hard to read. We have been here for decades. My father started the business, and I have been here since I was a boy. We do not have a computer for the inventory. We just know where things are kept by memory. It is a bit dusty and the light is not great, but we like it here. People come from all over the city to find a specific part they need for a repair. We spend our days digging through the stock and chatting with the regulars who have been coming for years. It is a noisy, busy part of town, but it is where we belong. We do not need anything more than our shelves.
