It’s right in the heart of the city, Kolkata-700084, but we deal with stuff that comes from the farms and the hands of craftspeople. Even though we have a Kolkata address, we aren't a corporate office with people in suits. We are usually surrounded by samples of handicrafts or notes about farm produce. The office in Kanungo Park is a bit crowded with boxes and papers everywhere. We spend a lot of time on the phone or talking to people who come in from the rural areas. It gets a bit noisy with the city sounds outside, but we’re used to it. We don't have a big marketing budget or a polished look. We just try to get the local crafts and farm goods to where they need to go. Some days are just spent sorting through inventory or checking the quality of things that arrived. We’ve been here in West Bengal for a while and we know how things work in the local markets. It’s a lot of back-and-forth and sometimes things don't go according to plan.
