Basant Singh Chauhan

My office is located at 290 Bipin Behari Ganguly Street. We are up on the second floor, which keeps us a little bit away from the direct noise of the street level, though you can still hear the trams and horns all day long. It is an old building with high ceilings and those big windows that let in some light. The stairs are a bit steep, so it keeps us fit going up and down. Inside, the space is mostly taken up by old files and wooden furniture that has been around for decades. It is not a modern office with glass walls or anything like that. We use simple fans to keep the air moving during the summer months. Usually, there is a lot of paperwork to deal with, and things can look a bit disorganized to an outsider. But we know where everything is kept. The street outside is always lively, with people selling things and workers moving goods. It is just the way this part of the city functions. We don't have a big team, just a few of us who have been working together for a long time. We mostly stick to our routine and make sure the daily tasks are taken care of before the sun goes down. It is a quiet existence despite the busy location. We like being in this old part of town where everything feels familiar.
