Over in Alipore, things seem to move a little slower than the rest of Kolkata. We are located at Sakchi House, specifically in Flat No. 42 at 5 A Penn Road. It is a classic old building with a lot of character and thick walls. You can almost feel the history of the city when you walk through the main entrance. We represent Tata Steel Ltd. from this address, and it provides a quiet spot for us to focus on our administrative work. Alipore is full of big trees and old houses, so the walk to the office is actually quite pleasant most mornings. Our workspace is not modern or flashy by any means. We have old wooden desks and cabinets that have been here for a long time. We spend our days managing the Kolkata side of the paperwork and talking to the people who drop by for various approvals. The windows are quite large, and when the breeze comes off the river, it makes the office feel much cooler. We are not big on formalities or strict hierarchies here. Most of us have worked together for years, so we know how to get things done without a lot of fuss. We usually get our tea from a regular vendor on the corner and spend a few minutes talking about the local news. It is a comfortable, steady routine in a very old part of town.
