You can find us on the 11th Floor of the Tata Centre, located at 43, Chowringhee Road. Tata Refractories Ltd. has been operating from this height for a long time. Being up on the 11th floor gives us a pretty good view of the street below, though we’re usually too busy to look out the windows much. The office has that classic feel to it, with heavy doors and hallways that seem to go on forever. It’s a quiet place compared to the street noise of Chowringhee Road, which is a relief. We have a lot of old wooden desks and chairs that are still sturdy. The lighting is that old-fashioned fluorescent kind that hums a little bit if you listen closely. We don't have a modern open-plan layout; it’s more about separate rooms and quiet corners. There’s a kitchen area where the tea is made, and it always smells a bit like cardamom in the afternoons. We keep our records in big metal cabinets that take up most of one wall. It’s a very steady sort of place. We don't change things around very often because the current setup works just fine for us. People here have been with the company for decades, so there’s a lot of familiarity in the way we work. It’s not a place for flashy displays or new-age furniture. We just come in, do our jobs, and watch the city move below us.
