Swastika Steel & Allied Products Pvt. Ltd. is located at 117 A, Chittaranjan Avenue. This is one of the busiest streets in Kolkata, so there is always a lot of noise from the trams and the buses outside. Our office is in an older style building that has a lot of character, even if the walls could use a fresh coat of paint. We deal with steel products, which mostly involves coordinating between the suppliers and the people who need the materials for their construction sites. It is a lot of back-and-forth on the phone and checking ledgers. The office has that old-school feel with high ceilings and heavy wooden desks that have been here for years. We aren't trying to look like a modern startup. We just do our work the way we always have. Sometimes the traffic on CR Avenue makes it hard for people to reach us, but we are right in the heart of the business district, so it’s convenient in other ways. We usually have a pot of tea going, and we spend a lot of time discussing the day’s business with anyone who drops by. It’s a busy life, and the heat in the summer can be quite something in these old buildings, but we wouldn't want to be anywhere else. We just focus on keeping our records straight and making sure the steel gets to where it’s supposed to go. Dealing with heavy industrial goods requires a lot of patience, especially when the city traffic is at its absolute worst during the rush.
