This shop is located at 17/1 Lakshmi Narayan Mukherjee Road, and we operate under the care of Ghanashyam Gupta. It’s an old part of town, and the street outside is always full of activity. We work with gold, which is a slow and careful process. The shop itself is nothing fancy. We have some wooden chairs that have been here for years and a couple of glass counters that have seen better days. Every morning we come in, unlock the heavy doors, and start setting things up. It’s a bit dark inside until we flip all the switches, but we like it that way. It stays a bit cooler. We handle a lot of small pieces, so you have to have good eyes for this kind of work. Most of our visitors are people from the nearby streets who have known Ghanashyam for a long time. They come in to talk about making something new or maybe just to get something cleaned up. We don't really do any advertising. Word of mouth is usually how people hear about us. We sit here, do the work, and watch the world go by through the open door. Sometimes a stray cat comes in to nap under the counter, and we just leave it be. It’s just a regular place where we do our gold work and try to stay out of the heat. We don't need much more than our tools and a bit of quiet.
