We are tucked away in the Satyanarayan Park A. C. Market, down in the lower basement. Our spots are L-66 and L-67. It’s a bit of a maze down there if you’re new to the market, but once you find the stairs, it’s not too bad. Being in the basement means we don't see the sun much during the day, so we rely on those bright overhead lights to see what we’re doing. It’s a busy market, always the sound of people talking and other shopkeepers moving boxes around. We have a lot of different jewelry items tucked into the cases. It’s not always perfectly organized, honestly. Sometimes we’re still moving things around when the first customers walk in. We’ve been here in Kolkata for a while and have seen the market change over the years. Some shops go, new ones come in, but we just keep our heads down and handle the daily tasks. It gets crowded on weekends when everyone is out shopping for weddings or festivals. It can get a little cramped in the shop with more than three or four people inside, but we make it work. We spend our time cleaning the glass, talking to people about what they want, and making sure the inventory is where it should be. It’s a lot of manual work, checking tags and writing things down in the ledger. It’s just how we run things here.
