Fascinate Jewellers

Fascinate Jewellers is up on the 5th floor of No. 11 Clive Row. This building is one of those old ones in Kolkata that has seen a lot of history. The elevator is a bit temperamental, so sometimes we just take the stairs, which is quite a climb to the fifth floor. Once you get up here, it’s a lot quieter than the street level. Clive Row is a very busy commercial area, so the noise from the taxis and the people shouting downstairs is always there, but it’s muffled up here. We have a few rooms where we keep our stock and do the paperwork. It’s mostly desks and old wooden cupboards. We spend most of our day answering the phone or packing up orders to be sent out. It’s not a retail shop where people come in to browse. It’s more of a place of business where things get done. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint, and the ceiling fans creak a little bit, but it’s a comfortable enough place to work. We’ve been in this building for a long time and we know the other people on our floor. We usually bring our own lunch and eat together in the small back room. It’s a simple routine, and we’ve been following it for years now without much change.
