Eina Ahluwalia Jewelry is tucked away in the Neelanjan Apartments, specifically at 4e 18/2 near the Gariahat Flyover. If you know Ballygunge Gardens, you know it can get a bit confusing with all the little streets and the noise from the traffic above. Our studio is more of a workspace than a shop. It is where we sit and figure out how to put things together. There are beads and wires and sketches all over the place. It isn't particularly tidy, but we know where everything is. We don't have a big storefront with glowing signs. Most people who come to see us have to look for the apartment number and ring the bell. It feels more like a home than a business, which we kind of like. We spend a lot of time drinking tea and debating about a specific curve in a piece of silver. It is just a small group of us trying to make things that look decent. We don't have a "philosophy" or a "vision" we talk about; we just like the work and the fact that we can do it in a quiet corner of Kolkata. Sometimes the flyover noise gets a bit much, but once we are focused on a piece, we don't really notice. It is a slow process, making jewelry by hand, and we don't try to rush it just to sell more.
