Steel Trade House

If you walk down Bagmari Road, you’ll find us on the ground floor at 224B. Steel Trade House is basically a big room full of metal and stacks of paper. It’s not a showroom or anything like that. It’s where we handle the buying and selling of steel bits and parts. There’s always a bit of a metallic smell in the air and the floor is usually covered in some kind of iron dust. We’ve been in this neighborhood for a while, and the locals know we’re the ones to talk to about steel. Sometimes it gets a bit cramped when a big shipment comes in, and we have to move everything around just to find a place to sit. My uncle started this place, and I’ve been helping out since I was a kid. It’s mostly just answering the phone and checking the inventory these days. The ground floor location makes it easy to load things, though the street can get pretty narrow for trucks. We don’t do any of that fancy marketing stuff. If someone needs steel, they usually just know to come here. We have a small kettle for tea in the corner, which gets used a lot during the winter months. It’s a steady job, nothing too exciting, but we like the routine of it all and being right here on Bagmari Road where we can see everyone passing by throughout the day.
