Steel Development Corporation

Our office is Steel Development Corporation, and we are situated at 2, Ganesh Chandra Avenue, inside Commerce House on the 6th floor. It’s an old building, so the elevator doesn't always work like it should, which means we sometimes have to walk up all those stairs. We spend most of our time dealing with the paperwork side of the steel business. It’s not as dirty as working in a yard, but it has its own challenges. The desks are covered in ledgers, invoices, and old coffee cups. We’ve been in this building for quite a long time, and we know the other people on our floor pretty well. Ganesh Chandra Avenue is always bustling, and the noise of the traffic reaches us even on the 6th floor. We aren't some high-tech outfit with the latest gadgets. We still use a lot of paper and file things away in metal cabinets. Our work is mostly about connecting people who have steel with the people who need it. It’s a lot of phone calls and checking prices. We don't have a fancy lobby or anything; it’s just a place where we come to work every morning. Some days are stressful when the market prices change fast, but we just manage it as best as we can. We’re just a small team trying to keep things moving along in the local steel trade. We’ve been here for years and it's basically our second home.
