Down in Tollygunge, at 2/49 Ashok Nagar, you will find our office for Steel Authority Of India Ltd. It is tucked away in a part of Kolkata that feels more like a neighborhood than a business district. The office itself is part of a building that has been around for some time. We don't have those big glass walls or a reception desk that looks like a hotel lobby. Instead, we have a few rooms filled with desks and a lot of filing cabinets. It gets quite busy here during the middle of the week, with people coming in and out and the phones ringing constantly. Most of us live nearby, so the commute isn't too bad, which is a lucky thing in this city. We don't really have a big public relations department or anything flashy like that. It’s just us doing the daily grind of checking figures and managing the local logistics. Sometimes we have tea brought in from the stall down the street, and we sit around and talk about the weekend. The atmosphere is pretty relaxed even when there is a lot of work to do. We don't try to sound more important than we are; we just run the office and handle the steel business as it comes to us. It is a practical place for practical people, and we have been here long enough that the walls feel familiar.
