Sona Brick Enterprise

We are Sona Brick Enterprise and you can find us in the Village & Post Office Dakshin Chandra. This is in the Chandra Santipur area. It is a quiet place out here surrounded by a lot of green fields and open space. The post office is right nearby so that is how most people find us if they are lost. We have a large yard where we set the bricks out to dry in the wind and sun. The soil in this part of Santipur is good for what we do. I spend a lot of my time walking around the property and making sure the workers are doing okay. It is a slow kind of life compared to the city. We follow the seasons pretty closely because the weather dictates when we can fire the kiln. My hands are usually stained with the color of the earth and my boots are always muddy. We have a small porch where we sit and have tea in the afternoons. It is a simple setup with just a few sheds for storage and a small area for the accounts. Most of our neighbors are farmers or have their own small shops in the village. We don't really do anything fancy here. We just make bricks and live our lives in Dakshin Chandra. It is a lot of physical labor and the days are long but it is what we know how to do.
