If you come down to Goyalda village in the Patashpur area, you’ll find us. We operate out of Abhijit Bera’s place. The name Sobujbiplab Farmers Producer Company Limited sounds big, but we are just local farmers from East Midnapore. Most of us have been farming since we were kids, following what our fathers did. We deal with the usual crops you see around Srirampur. Farming is getting harder with the costs of everything going up every year. Seeds, fertilizer, it all adds up. So we decided to group up. It makes it easier to buy things in bulk. We spend a lot of time talking about the soil and which pests are bothering the plants this month. Sometimes we meet on the porch and just figure out who is taking their produce to which market. It’s not a fancy setup. There’s a lot of mud on our boots most days. Being in West Bengal, we get the heat and the monsoon rains. You just learn to live with it. We don't have a big office with air conditioning. Just a room where we keep our records and meet up. We want to make sure the farmers in our village get a fair shake. It’s about sticking together when things get tough. We know every inch of these fields around here. That’s just how life is for us in Goyalda. I guess it's just about survival and doing better together.
