We are over here on A.P.C. Road in Kolkata, right in the middle of all the noise and people. If you know this part of the city, you know how busy it gets outside. The office isn't anything fancy, just a place where we sit down every morning and get through the files. Some of us have been coming to this same building for years now. We usually start the day with some tea while looking at the piles of paper on the desks. It’s mostly just us doing the work that needs to be done. Sometimes the fans make a bit of noise, and the traffic outside never really stops, but you get used to it. People drop by with documents, or they call us up to ask about things. We don't have a big reception or anything like that. It is just a few rooms with wooden tables and chairs that have seen better days. We try to keep things organized, but on busy days, the papers end up everywhere. It’s a lot of manual work and checking details. Most of the staff live nearby or take the bus to get here. We know the neighbors and the tea stall guy around the corner pretty well. It’s just how things are here in this part of West Bengal. We don’t spend much time worrying about the decor. The focus is usually just on finishing the day's tasks before the sun goes down and we head home. We just keep at it.
