Over in Bhabanipur near Mandir Bazar, you'll find us working as Shyamaleswar Agro Farmers Producer Company Limited. Dipak Das is the one whose house we use for the main address at 01 Bhabanipur. It’s down in Dantan, in the Mid (W) area. It’s a pretty rural spot, mostly just fields and narrow paths as far as you can see. We aren't some big corporate entity with a headquarters in the city. We are just local farmers. Some of us have been doing this for decades, following what our fathers and grandfathers did. We decided to make it official with this company name so we could handle things a bit better as a group. The office, if you want to call it that, is just a place to store some bags and keep the ledgers. It’s usually a bit dusty and smells like the outdoors. We don't mind it. We talk about the crops, the weather, and who’s going to the market this week. There’s no mission statement on the wall, just a calendar and maybe a map of the local plots. We find that working together helps when the costs of everything keep going up. It’s not always easy, and sometimes we argue about the best way to do things.
