Our office for Shyam Steel Industries Ltd. is tucked away in Kestopur, specifically at AE 213 in Rabindrapalli. If you’ve ever tried driving through Kestopur, you know how the traffic can get, especially during the peak hours when everyone is trying to get across the bridge. It’s a lively neighborhood, and we’ve become a part of the local scenery over the years. We deal with a lot of steel here, and the yard is usually a bit of a mess with different batches waiting to be sorted. It’s not the quietest job in the world, what with the clanging of metal and the constant hum of the city outside our doors. We spend a lot of time on the phone or scribbling notes on whatever scrap of paper is handy. The building isn't brand new, and the stairs are a bit narrow, but it serves us well enough for what we do. We mostly focus on getting the materials out to the local builders who need them. Sometimes the rains in Kolkata make things a bit tricky, especially when the ground gets muddy around the loading area, but we just manage as best as we can. There’s no big fancy reception area here, just a couple of desks and some chairs for anyone who stops by to talk business. It’s just a normal day-to-day operation where we try to stay on top of the paperwork and keep the steel moving out the door without too much fuss.
