Our office is located at Flat No. K2/15, 20 Dum Dum Road in Kolkata 700030. Working on Dum Dum Road means you are always in the middle of a lot of noise and movement. It is one of those busy veins of the city. We are part of Shyam Steel Industries Limited. The office is inside a flat, so it feels a bit more personal than a big corporate building. We have the usual desks and a lot of cabinets for all the paperwork we have to keep. Being in North Kolkata has its own charm, even if it is a bit crowded. You can hear the buses and the rickshaws outside all day long. We do not have a big lobby or a fancy entrance. You just come up to K2/15. The walls are a bit plain, and we have some old calendars hanging up. Most of us have been working here long enough that we do not notice the noise anymore. We focus on the logistics and the administrative side of the steel business. Sometimes the rain floods the road a bit, but that is just Kolkata life for you. We take our lunch breaks together and talk about the local news. There is not any promotional stuff on our walls. It is just a place where we put in our hours and get the work finished. We keep it simple and stay focused on what needs to be done each day without any distractions.
