Started out on Rai Bahadur Road years ago and we have just stayed put at 306 ever since. It gets pretty dusty with all the iron coming in and going out, but that is just part of the work. Most mornings start with checking what stock came in overnight and making sure the piles are mostly organized so people can actually walk through the space. We handle a lot of different iron pieces, from heavy rods to smaller bits that people need for their houses or small projects nearby. It is not a fancy setup here. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint and the desk is always covered in scraps of paper with measurements scribbled on them. We spend a lot of time on the phone or just talking to the drivers who pull up outside. Sometimes the traffic on the road makes things slow, but we manage. If someone walks in looking for something specific, we usually have to go digging around in the back to find it. It is noisy because of the metal hitting the floor, and someone is usually drinking tea while waiting for a delivery. We keep the doors open mostly to let some air in, even if the noise from the street is loud. It’s just how things are run here day to day. We don't do much marketing or anything like that, people just know where we are if they need iron for a job.
