Sharma Forging & Engineering Works

Our shop, Sharma Forging & Engineering Works, is located at 63 Chandmari Road. This part of Bakultala has changed over the years but we are still here doing the same kind of work. Forging is a tough job because of the heat from the furnace. We spend most of our time shaping hot metal. It’s noisy because of the power hammers, but you get used to the rhythm after a few days. We make things like hooks, rings, and various machine components. There are four of us working here currently. We have a small shed where we keep the raw materials. Sometimes the monsoon rains make the road outside a bit muddy, but we still manage to get the deliveries out. We don't have a website or a social media page. If people want to talk to us, they just come to the shop or call the landline. We drink our tea standing up near the front door. It’s a simple life and the work is hard on the hands. We have some scars from sparks, but that’s part of the trade. We aren't looking to become a giant company. We just want to keep the hammers moving and do a decent job on the parts we make. Bakultala is a good place for a small workshop like ours. We know the neighbors and they know us.
