Larsen & Toubro Limited

Down here at 17 N.N. Ghosh Lane in Tollygunge, things move at a bit of a different pace. It’s an old part of Kolkata, and the lane is quite narrow, so don’t even try bringing a big car down here. We’re used to the sounds of the neighborhood, the stray dogs, and the neighbors chatting across balconies. The office is part of an older building that has seen better days, but it has thick walls that keep it relatively cool. We’ve got a lot of paperwork because that’s just the nature of the work we do for Larsen & Toubro Limited in this region. The walls have some damp patches from the last monsoon, but that’s just how it goes in this city. We have a small table where we keep the water filter and some spare glasses. There’s no big glass front or air-conditioned lobby here. You just walk in, and you’re right in the middle of where we work. Most of us have been here for years, so we know every creak in the floorboards. During the Durga Puja, the whole lane gets blocked off with decorations, and we usually close up for a few days. It’s a very local way of working. We aren't trying to impress anyone with the furniture; we just need a place to sit and coordinate the site workers. It’s practical, a bit cluttered, and very much a part of the Tollygunge life. It's not a showroom, just our base for the daily grind.
