Scan Steel Ltd

Our place is at 11/A Haralal Das Street in Kolkata. If you’ve ever been to this part of West Bengal, you know the streets are tight and there’s always something happening. Scan Steel Ltd has been operating from this building for quite a while now. It’s an old structure, the kind you see all over the city, with thick walls and high ceilings. We don’t have any fancy air conditioning in the main areas, just some old ceiling fans that have been spinning for years. The work is mostly about managing steel supplies and keeping track of where everything is going in this huge city. Traffic in Kolkata is a nightmare, so a lot of our time is spent just trying to figure out how to get a truck from one point to another. We have a small team of people who have been here since the beginning. We don't do big meetings or have any corporate slogans. We just sit around, have our tea, and go through the orders. Sometimes we have to shout over the noise from the street, but that’s just how it is here. We aren’t trying to be a modern tech company. We’re just a traditional business doing things the way we know how. It’s hard work and it’s often messy, but it’s our life and we’re used to the rhythm of Haralal Das Street. We just keep the steel moving.
