Our place is tucked away at 39/2, M.S.P.C., over in the 1st Bye Lane. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze sometimes with all the inventory we have piled up. Sandeep Steel & Wire Agency has been around for a bit and we mostly just deal with whatever steel or wire rolls come through the door. The floor is concrete and usually has some scratches from moving heavy bundles around all day. It gets pretty hot in the summer because the ventilation isn't the best, but we keep the fans going. Working with wire means your hands are always a bit rough and you have to be careful not to get poked. We spend a lot of the day measuring out lengths and making sure the counts are right for whoever is picking them up. The 1st Bye Lane is usually crowded with trucks or carts, so loading things up can be a real headache some afternoons. There is a small desk near the entrance where we keep the ledger and the phone, but most of the time we are back in the stacks. It isn't a glamorous business at all. We just handle the metal and try to keep everything organized enough so we can find what a customer needs without too much digging. Sometimes we lose a pen or a tape measure in the mess, but that is just how it goes in a place like this.
