Sairam Metals

Sairam Metals is at No. 77 N. S. Road. If you know this area, you know how crowded it gets with all the shops and the people moving things around. Our place is packed with metal pieces and different hardware items. There is not much room to walk once you get inside. We have shelves that go all the way to the ceiling, filled with stuff we have collected over the years. It is a bit of a maze, but we know where everything is kept. The front counter is where we spend most of our time talking to people who drop by. It is a heavy-duty kind of environment. We do not use any fancy software for inventory; we mostly remember what is in stock or check the piles. The fans stay on all day to keep the air moving, but it is still quite warm. The street outside is a constant stream of carts and delivery men. Sometimes we have to move things onto the sidewalk just to reorganize the back. It is honest work, just shifting metal and making sure the counts are right. We do not do much in terms of decorating. The walls are just the same color they were years ago. We show up, open the shutters, and stay until the evening when the street finally starts to quiet down a little bit. That is the daily life here on N. S. Road for us, just working.
