Sahana Banerjee

I am Sahana Banerjee, and my place is at 3/1 D, Sarkar Bye Lane in Kolkata. It is very close to College Street, which is a lucky spot to be in if you like books and the old vibe of the city. The pin code is 700007. The lane itself is quite narrow, like many of the bye lanes in this part of town. You have to walk past several old houses to find my door. Inside, I’ve set up a small area where I can work and meet people. It isn't a professional office with a lobby or anything like that. It’s more of a personal space that I use for my daily tasks. There are piles of books and papers everywhere, which is typical for someone living near College Street. The walls are a bit faded, and the flooring is simple stone. Sometimes you can hear the tram bells in the distance if the wind is right. I spend a lot of time here preparing materials or reading. The neighbors are mostly families who have lived here for generations, so it’s a friendly enough atmosphere. On hot days, I keep the windows open, but that lets in the dust too. It is a modest setup, but it suits me well. People who come to see me usually know the area well enough to find the lane without much trouble. It’s just a quiet corner in a very historic part of Kolkata. I’ve been here for many years.
