Ratan Dalapati

I’ve been running things here at Ratan Dalapati for a while now. We are tucked away on Post Office Road, right in the Dum Dum Cantonment area. If you know where Narendra Cinema is, we are just a short walk from there. It’s a busy part of town, but we like the pace. Most days it’s just me and a couple of others keeping the shop going. We handle whatever comes through the door. People from the neighborhood stop by, sometimes just to chat or check on things. It’s not a fancy setup, just 1/8 Post Office Road with some old furniture and a lot of work to do. Kolkata heat can be tough, but the fans keep us moving. We don't really do the whole big business thing. It's more about getting the job done right for whoever walks in. Sometimes the traffic outside near the cinema gets loud, but you get used to it. We’ve seen the area change over the years. Some new buildings went up, but we’re still here in the same spot. It’s simple work, really. We open up early, sweep the floor, and wait for the first person to show up. There isn’t much to tell other than we’re here if you need us. No big signs or flashing lights, just a small place in Dum Dum trying to stay busy.
