Raghav Ispat Co. sits right at No.4 on Tolkata Lane. If you are familiar with the New Loha Mandi, we are just a short walk from the Cgo Complex. It’s a busy spot with trucks constantly turning in and out of the narrow lanes. We’ve been here quite a while, mostly dealing with different kinds of iron and steel pieces. The yard is usually full of heavy stuff that needs moving. The office itself is pretty simple, just a place for us to keep the ledgers and have a bit of tea when the morning rush dies down. It gets dusty, especially during the dry months, and there is always the sound of metal clanging somewhere nearby. My cousin and I run the place along with a couple of guys who help with the loading. People stop by looking for stuff for their construction or repair jobs. We don't really do much advertising, mostly just word of mouth from people in the mandi. The work is physically demanding and some days the sun really beats down on the metal, making it hard to handle. By the time we lock up in the evening, we are usually covered in grit. It’s just the way it is in this part of town. We try to keep things organized but with so much metal coming in, it’s a constant battle. We stay open pretty late to make sure the last truck of the day gets loaded correctly.
