Piyali Ghosh

My name is Piyali Ghosh and I work out of my place at 78/1 Canal Street. I am right in the Sree Bhumi area, very close to the post office. If you know that part of Kolkata, you know it can get pretty crowded during the day. I’ve lived here for years, so setting up my workspace at home just made sense. It’s not a corporate office or anything like that. It is just a room where I handle my daily tasks and meet people when necessary. I like the neighborhood because everything is close by. You can hear the traffic from the canal road sometimes, but you get used to it after a while. I started doing this because I wanted to stay busy and use my skills to help others around here. Most people just walk over since it’s such a central spot in Sree Bhumi. I don't really do much advertising. Usually, someone tells a neighbor and then they show up at my door. I keep a regular schedule, more or less, but things happen and sometimes I'm out running errands. It’s a very local way of doing things. The post office is a good landmark if you’re trying to find the building for the first time. I usually have tea ready if a visitor stays long enough. It’s just a simple setup where I do my work every day. I've been doing this for a long time and I don't see myself moving anywhere else soon.
