Paras Steel Products

We are located at 5A, N C Dutta Sarani. If you know that part of town, you know it is always packed with people and constant traffic. It is a classic Kolkata street with a lot of history. Our office and the storage area are right there in the middle of all the chaos. Paras Steel Products deals in various steel items, mostly the kind of things that end up in construction projects or local manufacturing. It is definitely not the cleanest work in the world. You are always handling heavy metal and dealing with the grime and dust that comes with industrial supplies. We don’t have a marketing department or anyone to write fancy brochures. It is just us and a few staff members who know the inventory inside and out. If you ask for a specific gauge or a certain size of rod, we usually know exactly where it is buried in the pile. The days can be long, especially when new shipments are arriving and we have to scramble to clear enough space on the floor. It involves a lot of manual work and coordination with the drivers. We don’t use any fancy software to track everything; a lot of the business is still kept in big ledgers or just known by heart. We have seen the city change quite a bit around us, but N C Dutta Sarani stays pretty much the same—always busy and always loud. We like being part of that energy. We aren't trying to change the industry, we just want to get the steel where it needs to go. (257 words)
