Tropical Farm & Nursery

Our nursery is out in Kalitala village, near Muchisha. It’s a different world out here compared to the noise of the city. We have a lot of open space for the plants and the trees we grow. The air is much better, and it’s generally quieter, except for the birds and the sound of the workers in the fields. We’ve been growing things here for many years. It’s not just a business for us; it’s just what we do every single day. We get up very early to check the soil and the water levels. We have all sorts of tropical plants and farm stuff. Sometimes the weather is against us, like when the monsoon rain is too heavy, but that’s just part of farming. People come from the nearby towns to buy saplings or ask for a bit of advice on their gardens. We don’t have a big office building. Most of the real work happens outside in the dirt. Our address is simple, just the village and the post office in South 24 Parganas. We don't do much in the way of advertising. The plants speak for themselves, I suppose. If someone wants a specific kind of tree, we just show them what we have growing in the rows. It’s a slow business. You can’t really rush a tree. We spend our time weeding, pruning, and making sure everything stays healthy. It’s a lot of physical labor, but seeing a field full of green makes it worth the effort. It’s just a local nursery run by people who know the land.
