Orissa Sponge Iron & Steel Ltd.

Our office is located at Flat No. 1, Srestha Apartment 795/1, M.G. Road Haridevpur in Kolkata. It’s a bit of a trek for some, but it works for us. Orissa Sponge Iron & Steel Ltd. is the name on the door. It’s an apartment converted into an office space, so it feels a bit more personal than those big commercial blocks downtown. Being on M.G. Road means there is always noise and traffic outside, but you get used to it after a week. We spend our time managing the steel side of things from here. It is mostly phone calls and logging data. Sometimes the air conditioner acts up in the summer, but we manage. We aren’t a massive corporate team, just a group of people making sure the iron and steel business keeps moving. Kolkata is a city that never really stops, and neither do we. We have our files and our tea, and we work through the pile of documents that come in. Haridevpur is a decent area to be based in. There are plenty of shops nearby for when we need a quick break. We don't have any flashy signs or posters. Just the company name and our daily routine. It’s honest work and we’ve been at it for some time now. We just focus on the day-to-day tasks and try to stay on top of the logistics. It's a simple life here.
