Mondal Store

The Mondal Store is right here at 1, Mondal Store in Kumarkhali. Being in Kolkata - 700002, things can get a bit loud and crowded outside but inside it’s just the usual shop stuff. I took over from my father and haven't changed much because the old ways work fine. We sell a bit of everything, from loose grains to packaged oils. The light in the back of the shop is a bit dim, I should probably change the bulb soon. Most people from the neighborhood stop by after their morning walk. We get the daily newspapers delivered early so folks can pick them up. I keep a jar of candy near the counter for the kids who come with their parents. It’s not the biggest store in Kumarkhali but we carry the essentials. Sometimes the salt bags are heavy to lift but it’s good exercise I guess. I close for a few hours in the afternoon when it’s too hot to stay open. My wife helps with the inventory on Sundays. We don't do any big advertising, just the sign out front. It’s a simple life running a shop in Kolkata. You get to hear all the local gossip while weighing out the lentils or packing up some sugar. It’s just how things go at 1, Mondal Store every day.
