Our steel business is based in Kolkata, specifically over in Keshtopur. You can find us on Tarulia 3rd Lane in the Mohishgote area. Working in the ispat or steel industry means things are often quite dusty and noisy, but that’s just the nature of the trade. We’ve been in this lane for a long time, and we’ve seen the neighborhood grow and change around us. The office is right next to where we store some of the materials, so there is always a bit of heavy lifting or moving things around going on. We don’t have any polished reception area or fancy carpets; it’s a place built for utility. Most of our time is spent checking the quality of the loads and making sure the transport trucks can get in and out of the narrow lanes without too much trouble. Kolkata traffic can be a nightmare, so we have to plan our deliveries very carefully. We’ve got a small team here, and we all know our roles pretty well. We deal with various types of iron and steel products, and it’s a lot of manual tracking and phone calls to suppliers. It’s a tough industry to be in, but we like the physical reality of it.
