Marudhar Traders

Marudhar Traders is located at 121, N. S. Road. If you know Burrabazar, you know it’s one of the most crowded places you can find. Every day is a struggle with the traffic and the sheer number of people walking past the door. We are tucked into this building and we use every inch of space we have. There are boxes piled up almost to the ceiling sometimes. It makes it a bit hard to move around, but we know where everything is. We don't have fancy air conditioning, so we rely on the ceiling fans to keep us cool during those really humid months. The noise from the street never really stops until very late at night. We get used to it after a while. Most of the day is spent handling orders and talking to people who come in. We don't use much technology here, mostly just pens and paper ledgers that we keep on the old wooden desks. It’s a traditional way of doing things but it has worked for us for years. There’s no point in changing everything just to look modern. We take pride in just showing up and getting the work done. The tea seller comes by twice a day and that’s usually the highlight of the afternoon. It’s just a small business trying to keep up with the pace of the city. It’s busy, messy, and exactly where we belong.
