Maa Siddheswari Metal Works

Maa Siddheswari Metal Works is at 81 Nilganj Road in Agarpara. The shop is right on the edge of the road, so it’s easy to miss if you aren't looking for it. We do a lot of metal fabrication work, which basically means we cut, bend, and weld stuff into whatever shape the customer wants. It’s loud, hot, and there are always sparks flying somewhere. I’ve been working here since I was a young man, and the neighborhood has changed a lot, but the work is still the same. We use a lot of manual tools and some old machines that still run better than the new ones. The walls of the shop are blackened from years of smoke and soot. We don't have a receptionist or a waiting room. If you want to talk to us, you just walk into the garage and hope someone hears you over the noise of the grinders. We make gates, window grills, and sometimes just small repairs for people in the neighborhood. It’s the kind of place where your hands are always dirty, and you can never quite get the grease out from under your fingernails. We don't have a big sign out front, just the number on the gate. People know us for being reliable and for just getting the job done without a lot of fuss. It’s honest work, and it keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday. We shut down around seven when the traffic dies down.
