Maa Shakambari Steel Ltd is a place where we deal with a lot of heavy lifting and metal work. Kolkata is a busy city, and our corner here in Brahmapur is no different. There’s always noise from the traffic and the work going on inside the gates. The office is just a small part of the bigger site. It’s a bit old-fashioned, but it works for us. We don’t see the point in spending money on shiny signs or fancy lobbies. We’d rather focus on the steel we are producing. Most of our staff have been around for years and they know the business inside out. We have a lot of tea throughout the day, which is pretty common here in Bengal. Sometimes the rains make things difficult, especially during the monsoon season when the ground gets muddy, but we just keep the work going as best as we can. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s what we do to earn a living. We don’t make big promises or use fancy slogans. We just get the steel ready and out the door to wherever it needs to go. That’s how we’ve always done it since we opened. We just try to be honest and do our bit every day.
